There are a lot of ways to define best, but if I am going to use an unbiased view of TV, influence, overall quality, I'm going with:

The Simpsons

If we can only vote for one, I'll vote for teh Wonder Years. It's not even my absolute favorite, but I think it is the best.

This even with all it's flaws. Clearly there's room for improvement and I'm sure LOST will be surpassed as my favorite in time. My current favorite is Fringe but only time will tell if it will culminate in a more satisfying finale which was LOST.

LOST isn't even in the top 100. There's nothing about selecting a starting point and ending point for a story, then completely diverging from that story to sling cliffhanger after cliffhanger and weird sci-fi element after weird sci-fi element to produce a storyline so incoherent and inconsistent that it takes a deus ex machina ending to conclude a fun, but ultimately pointless and poorly developed, ride that screams "best of all time"

The Simpsons

This in a landslide. LOLost. Get a grip fanboys. A show with shoddy writing trying to explain away their discontinuity as "depth" =! the best show of the last five years, let alone ever.

My favorite show of all time is The Wire, but no one brings a resume to the table anywhere close to The Simpsons.

It was hokey, low-budget, and poorly acted, but I'd argue that no TV series has had more impact on popular culture than the original Star Trek series.

That's a valid argument

The only one I can think of that might come close would be I Love Lucy
