As title suggests, any suggestions?
Always loved the history of New Orleans with all of the Spanish and French colonial influence. Maybe some native history?

PBS did a multi-part series on history of LA but I don't remember the name but the name wasn't artsy and may have just been the history of Louisiana. Not sure if it is streaming anywhere or not.

Sorry, you'll have to sit through commercials to get to it.

I remember seeing one about LSU football in the early 80's on PBS when you still had all the die hards going to the game. The interviews with the fans talking about the band coming in to tiger stadium was great. I wish I knew the name of it.

Among the films included will be the 1978 film after which the set is named: "Always for Pleasure," an hourlong documentary about some of New Orleans' more colorful social traditions, including jazz funerals, second-lines, Mardi Gras Indians and crawfish.

Other films of local interest to be included are: 1972's "Spend it All," a 41-minute exploration of Cajun culture; 1973's "Hot Pepper," a 54-minute profile of local "King of Zydeco" Clifton Chenier; 1973's "Dry Wood," a 37-minute, zydeco-infused portrait of black Creole life in the Louisiana Delta; and 1990's 90-minute "Yum, Yum, Yum! A Taste of Creole and Cajun Cooking."

That may have been it. I'll have to watch it to be sure. Different type of Fandom at that time. I kind of miss it.

First and still greatest, "Louisiana Story" 1948
About a Cajun family, a raccoon and the glorious oil companies that saved the state. LINK

Also, there was a Ted Turner series in the 80s about the 50 US states called "Portrait of America". The best epi by far was on Louisiana. But I don't see it on youtube.

"Fatal Flood" about the 1927 Miss River LINK

"The Pharmacist" This was based in Louisiana, but the subject matter isn't technically about Louisiana.

You can go Cajun dance on Saturday mornings in Eunice with some of the people on that documentary, the Savoy family.
