It does not look good.
I love the original. I don't even hate the idea of a remake. But it looks like they took the wrong approach.
CGI + no bankable stars... hmmm.
If they were smart, they would play up the Jesus angle on this movie. Jesus movies can rake in a lot of grassroots box office. If they are looking to market to the action-adventure crowd, then they need to show how it's different from all the other CGI crapfests out there.
Because if it's not different, it will be a big ol' Gods of Egypt-style turd.
I love the original. I don't even hate the idea of a remake. But it looks like they took the wrong approach.

I went to some big arse Christian event at Cowboy Stadium with my family a few weeks ago and they showed the trailer for this and everyone went nuts.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that no, you don't love the original and actually love the second remake.
Ben Hur was done twice before the Charlton Heston version and both were culturally significant.

The '59 version straight lifts the '25 version's chariot race pretty much shot for shot.

This is a movie that absolutely does not need to be remade. And yet another example of inserting over the top CGI simply for it's own sake rather than to enhance the story. I'm not at all excited about this one.

I normally like Freeman in anything. His lines and the way he is saying them, just felt like cheese.
