Appears there is confusion here between PBS and BBC.

Not only the best doctor who episode, but one of the very best episodes of any show on TV. A great introduction.

I'll watch it. If I like it, should I start wherever that doctor begins?

If you like that watch the waters of mars, my second favorite David tennant episode. Blink is a little odd in that it is an amazing episode but is atypical in that the Doctor is not featured. The waters of mars is a more typical format, and is a great standalone episode. If you like both then start at the beginning. Personally I like all of the new doctors, but my favorite is matt smith.

Off the top my head the best tennant episodes are:

Blink
Waters of mars
Girl in the fireplace
Silence in the library
Human nature / family of blood
Midnight
42
Impossible planet / satan pit
Turn left

But eccleston is great, particularly:

Dalek
The empty child / the doctor dances

Thanks.

I think I'm gonna watch Foyles War and Sherlock first, but I'll start Dr. Who after that. I've bookmarked this thread.

I haven't seen foyle's war, but it doesn't get any better than Sherlock. I'd start there. I rewatched them recently and enjoyed them just as much the second time. Enjoy.

Afterlife (if you can find it...good show but hard to find. I had to download them)
CRACKER! Great show with Hagrid in the lead. Great preformance.
Foyle's War
Downton Abbey (ITV)
MI-5
Jekyll
Wire in the Blood
Waking the Dead
Primeval

Looking forward to Fleming. I have an old paperback book that is his biography.

Not BBC but English: City of Vice with Ian McDiarmid and Iain Glen. Great mini-series set in historical London about the forming of the city's first police force.

Re: Doctor Who, Midnight is probably my favorite (or at least in the top three) new series episodes. Love the claustrophobic feeling, the acting, how they take a simple situation and make it fraught with anxiety and anger. Also love how Tennant tries his chipper 'wibbly wobbly timey wimey' benevolent shite and he nearly gets f'ed by something as simple as the darker side of human beings faced with an unknown and threatening situation. If only all the episodes were half this good.

EXCELLENT show

Michael Kitchen is seriously one of the best actors I have ever seen on TV.

educate yourself a little about the context of what was going on in England during the war and you'll enjoy this show even more

also - Check out the House of Cards Trilogy

Not sure if this will happen, but the second season of Ripper Street may not be it's last. Great show IMO. BBC puts these shows in terrible timeslots and when they lose out to bullshite reality TV they cancel them. I hope it's picked up by someone else.

So, I'm almost through with the first 4 seasons of Dr. Who. Overall, I've been kinda meh with the show as a whole, but a few episodes have really stuck out to me. The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances with Eccleston, The Girl in the Fireplace and The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit from series 2, 42 and Blink from series 3, and the entire second half of series 4.

Waters of Mars may have been my favorite.

Who is becoming horrible. Just about every single episode ends with the Doctor waving the lazy writing stick around. Yawn.

Damn thing was JUST a screwdriver THUS the fracking name sonic screwdriver.

Moffat has been a HUGE dissappointment in his tenure at the top. He needs to go back to just writing a few episodes a season and stay away from helming the show.
