I remember when they were filming there. I thought that bar did as well as could be expected in Kenner. It has some local popularity.
Not sure why it needed to go on the show.

I just wonder if they really get all those upgrades for free. That's the main reason I can think of for a bar owner to subject himself to Jon Taffer.

The show is ridiculously entertaining though. I love how they start out on some vice squad stakeout and then it gets serious, "OK, THAT'S ENOUGH, WE'RE GOING IN!"

Yeah, the show is oddly forced at times. I enjoy it for the most part. Bar kitchens really are filthy like that. The is the norm more than the exception.
TJ's changed names on the show, but the change didn't last long IRL.

I think the only success I saw was the bar on Bourbon with the barber chair, that place still had god sales last time I was on Bourbon (been a while)..

Yes. It's all donated by the liquor/liquor technology companies that use it as advertisement space. That's why every shot is like a "Jameson black special edition Sprotzer" and shite like that.

Speculation: I think they needed help w/ renovations because they took a HUGE hit when they first bought the bar. The prior owner lost his liquor license & video poker rights; so he had to sell. Took a lot longer than necessary to get the video poker and lose the reputation from the last owner; so people weren't going there.

My crew used to go there when we just wanted to catch a game and throw darts. Have not been back since I moved from Sunlake, but know the owners from his prior bar management gigs.
