how good is it? ... admittedly, i have not seen TTT, but i would assume the use of special effects in PH makes it the current 'best' portrayal of the battle scene ... given how most folks admire the first 45 minutes of SPR, was wondering if there are other movies out there that have gave a comparable effort to PH ...

Pearl Harbor is a fun watch for me...

... as long as I completely ignore the fact that Josh Hartnett gets completed screwed over by the writers.

to be mildly fair I would sacrifice myself to have secks with Kate Beckinsale.

i've seen PH ... i think the scene is too short ... spr was a good 45 minutes ... i know the movie wasn't as serious a portrayal like spr, but still thought the scene was too short ...

Hartnett's character deserved far worse for going after his friend's woman. Doesn't matter if you die, bro code is for eternity.

Pearl Harbor needs a remake and re-imagining with a competent director.

It hes the setting that could lead to a legendary film. Maybe a Tom Hanks/Spielberg duo. Those two get off on some WWII.

Pearl Harbor tried too hard to be Titanic, complete with eternal love theme song. Aside from that one bomb drop, getting to see Kate and Jennifer Garner all dolled up, very meh.

Fun fact: The DCU's Batman and General Zod are both in that movie.

Well, I'm not by any means knowledgeable on these old movies, but in the past month I've seen From Here To Eternity and parts of Midway. Both, to me at least, looked like they used a lot of actual war footage. So it doesn't get any better than that as far as special effects. Midway is actually pretty impressive and according to Wiki it used a lot of Tora footage.

Probably considered a good portrayal of what it was like during the attack, but from a historical and cinematic standpoint it's a disgrace. There is a great thread on reddit I'll try to find where someone just slaughters it. They show modern American carriers during the scenes where the Japanese fleet is sailing, multiple shots of modern cruisers and destroyers during the attach, and you can see the Arizona memorial in several frames in the background of the attack.

That's disappointing ... only redeeming aspect of it is the attack scene ...

I like how everyone is awake, outside, and engaged in some sort of activity. At 7:30 in the morning. On a Sunday.
