Arrival Question Possible Plothole and tipoff spoilers

1. Shouldn't the Russians have realized that each ship was giving only a part of the puzzle. There were two ships to land Russia so they should have seen the pieces of information were different.
2. I know this is silly but I thought several times in what turns out to be the flash forwards "hiwnthe hell can a single mom on a professor's salary afford that damn house.

It seemed like the same house she always lived in.
She had top secret clearance prior to the aliens coming and wrote a book. Who knows she could be banking.
As for 1 goes, sure maybe they should have but the hawkish leadership thought otherwise. That doesn't seem all that outrageous.

I don't know about one but for number 2 she was already contracted by the government once before so she could have gotten paid big

That would be silly. A neighbor was dating a military translator and he said that there was at least several hundred thousand people in the US who speak Afghani and Farsi is a much bigger international language. Govt ain't paying big for that.

True. I know a guy who made 200 k as a contractor for 6 months to work at a checkpoint in Afghanistan. Also said that everyone who worked at that checkpoint had a $10,000 bounty taken out on them
