Aquaman gives them the benefit of a character that they can feature in their Justice League movies while also having a solo movie or two that taps into the entire fantasy/mythology kingdom genre. So they can have their own Game of Thrones and tie it in with their other heroes.

If you want to look at it from the Marvel movies perspective, he would be Thor with his own realm and political intrigue and monsters and enemy armies... but still associating with the superheroes and characters on Earth/land.

Uh considering the writers are the ones that create these characters and continuities, yeah.

It shows that you've either never read a comic, or never have read one involving Aquaman.

Flashpoint Spoiler:

In the Flashpoint story arc after Aquaman bones Wonder Woman with Queen Mera watching in the shadows, Mera confronts Wonder Woman only to have her head sliced off and crown taken. After all of that Aquaman declares war on the Amazons and destroys most of Europe where the Amazon had taken control of and called new Themyscira. Doesn't sound like he blows to me. Aquaman sounds down right coldblooded.

Chase wasn't remotely believable as Aquaman. He looked borderline retarded with the blonde hair.

The movie had the worst effects of Cameron's career.

The flying Piranha from Piranha 2 were more realistic than those damn dolphins in Aquaman.

Don't get me started on the whole liberal message from the movie.

The runoff from the Haliburton plant causing the mutated Sea horses controlled by Namor was just stupid.

As was the talking Hermit Crab. Hell, Cameron stole the hermit crab from The Incredible Mr. Limpet.

since new 52 DC has put a big emphasis on making Aquaman a viable character and property. Go read some of the stuff Geoff Johns has written for him. In issue 1 he plays into all the stereotypes, even having Aquaman walk into a seafood restaurant and eat while people freak out.

This will allow them to make a story on Atlantis.

Exactly!
Aquaman is a TPOS. The guy is constantly threatening to invade the surface, and the only reason he doesn't is because usually some long forgotten sea god and his army is headed for Atlantis and A-man is like "fricking really?" and he has to go save his shite.

He's basically Batman in his approach to people and situations. Whereas Batman can be a little bitch to a few characters and turn his back to them, Aquaman basically can turn his back on the entire world and they'll feel it. I remember a comic where some random congressman was trying to pass a bullshite bill that would allow pollutants in the deepest parts of the ocean. Aquaman calls up some fricking whales and rides them, via a tsunami that does frick up the city, smashing them into his front doors and tells him to frick off.

People get hung up on the idea that he talks to fish. bullshite. He doesn't talk to them, fish hate Aquaman, and he them. He controls the cells in their brains bitch. fricking Nemo ain't got a choice man.

Also, people were saying Ironman would be a shitty movie too.

The people that try to ridicule Aquaman have clearly never read anything involving Aquaman, and it shows.

Jason Momoa wouldn't be playing Aquaman if Aquaman was a bitch like popular culture wants him to be just so people could make a few shitty jokes.

Aquaman should be a comedy. A serious Aquaman sounds like shite.

well considering WB thinks all their comic films need to be dark and gritty after the success of Nolan's Batman flicks a serious Aquaman is what you should expect.

They just know the character from the jokes and Entourage.

In the 80's people couldn't believe that Warner was going to produce a serious Batman film.

Aquaman water set test on BvS.

“Aquaman” is indeed in the film and did some sort of film test on a water set recently. The character has a very small role in BvS.

quote:

Tech Times unearthed some pretty good signs that announcements are imminent, in the form of four web domains newly registered by Warner Bros.: JusticeLeagueFilm.com, ShazamMovie.com, WonderWomanTheMovie.com and AquamanMovie.com. All of the addresses send users to the studio’s website.
