I would guess that minorities are a rising demographic for traditional TV watching households instead of cord cutters
Same reason ESPN went to garbage low intelligent debate shows. Their time slot lined up perfectly with a large majority of the unemployed that watch daytime TV which obviously would have lower average IQ

The fact that the female lead in this show looks exactly like a girl trying to throw a ball for the first time instead of a fluid motion just makes me want to laugh at the producers that green lit this crap.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the fastest a woman has ever pitched a baseball is 69 MPH.
Apparently the dad in the show knows she can't pitch as fast as her male counterparts, so he recommends that she master the screwball to counteract her lack of power.
Problem is, a good screwball travels between 70-80 MPH. I know it's television, but a female pitcher in the major leagues? Yeah...not worth my time. If she had been a first or second basemen it might have been a little more believable.

Actually ABC is the new minority channel.
They hired the first black female president in network history last year and she said her goal was to get MORE diverse and add more shows like Blackish and off the boat.
Just curious if a white person said that how it would go over.

Not likely there either. That's a position that generally provides a lot of power at the plate, which, again, is something a female could not supply.

You'll eventually see a knuckleball pitcher who is a woman. It is not taxing at all on the arm.

Id be willing to bet I don't see a female in the major leagues before I die and I'm 39.
Where is a woman going to learn to throw a knuckleball and practice it enough to be major league material?
