I'm reading the book (by the same writer as the show) and watching the show.

So far, I'm enjoying it. But I'm a sucker for period pieces.

FYI....if you want to binge watch the show and watch episodes before they are aired on tv...get the PBS passport. Basically you have to make a $5 donation a month to PBS and it's like PBS Go(all their content past and present available to you)

How does it compare to Downton Abbey?

I'm also curious about this. My wife and I rarely find TV shows we both like. She loves period pieces, so if Victoria is really good, I'll be able to score some brownie points in the suggestion of it.

We both liked Downton Abbey and The Crown.

Trying to imagine that Jenna Coleman would ever look like old Queen Victoria is tragic.

The Crown.
it's not as well written or polished as The Crown (or DT for that matter) but it is entertaining. Unlike The Crown they try and add in the help like Downton and the older Upstairs Downstairs. The CGI falls a little short but it's usually just aerial views of 1830's Buckingham Palace.
Also, the real Queen Victoria was never as pretty but I think everyone can live with that, um, alternative fact. (Sorry, couldn't help myself).

Then you would like this series.

But like another poster mentioned...DV and The Crown are better.

The actress that plays Victoria reminds me of Christina Ricci a little bit. They look like they could be sisters irl.

Jenna Coleman (Victoria) is on the right

**Bump**

Anyone else finish this series? My wife and daughter loved it so I got sucked in. I found it entertaining and liked how they had her grow into her position. It got a little melodramatic at times but that was expected.
I'm not sure if season 2 will stack up. It was really a Victoria coming of age story so...

Haven't watched the finale yet, but it's a decent show. I think the can realistically run it up to a little after Albert dies. So that would be a few more seasons. Id have to read more about her, but from what I gather, she became pretty reclusive after his death and a lot of the reforms he was pushing for fell to the wayside.

I paid $5/month to become a "friend of PBS" just so I could get access to their own version of PBSGo so I could binge watch the season before it aired.

I really enjoyed the show. The book was great as well(and the show very closely followed the book for the most part). Like the Netflix show "the Crown", watching it made me want to read more about the true story.

Watched it on ITV when it came out.

Better than The Crown.

Downton Abbey is pure fiction, so there's a bit more excitement and speculation there. Victoria is entertaining though, as a historical piece.
