I was just thinking that was a good comparison. Andy wasn't trying to make any political points or embarrass anyone though... just interested in pissing people off.

Lena Dunham is a modern Andy Kaufman.

He liked to go to colleges and just get on stage sing 99 bottles of beer on the wall. The crowd would boo like crazy. Then he would stop at 4 bottles. Then they (those who were left) would go crazy for him to finish the song. He wasn't a comedian. He was a performance troll.

And did he really read The Great Gatsby from start to finish because a crowd pissed him off?

I watched man on the moon the other day, and I thought to myself, what a wonderful life.

When tony Clifton told everyone to put out there cigs because he has a disease, and then lights one up, I cryed.

Lena Dunham is like Andy Kaufman

I guess.

I think Gallager has the same type mind, but used it differently.

Kaufman was the audience, we were the performers.

Him and Zmuda were an amazing team.

Zmuda's book is fricking hilarious.

He's dead....

If you've ever heard Phil Hendrie's radio show, I think he makes for a good comparison Kaufman.

I think Kaufman's dead.

Then he would ask if they would rather listen to record. The record was him reading the Great Gatsby.

He epitomized the word "troll" long before it ever existed. He's the perfect troll example.

WTF? Terrible comparison IMO.

Kaufman did things to be funny, annoying, abrasive, offensive, shocking, etc. A performer is definitely what he was, and while it could be argued that some things he did were funny, most of them were entertaining (even if only to him)

Yeah, Sacha Baron Cohen is a better comparison

One of the most disturbing images in film is in Man on the Moon when Andy is at the spiritual healer and realizes it's a scam. It cuts from him laughing to his dead corpse.
