Probably a good call for her to back out. Consider the image below:

Now consider what percentage of her material Amy would have to go without mentioning.

Schumer has two problems and weight isn't either one of them when it comes to comedy. There are plenty of fairly funny female comedians who are a bit chunky.

Her first problem is that her go to material, sex jokes, have already been done to death by people like Sarah Silverman and Chelsea Handler. People who, unfortunately for Schumer, do those jokes better then she does.

Her second problem is that she doesn't have anything else in her routine. She's like a pitcher who has a decent fast ball but can't throw anything else to save their life.

Kathy Griffin builds 95% of her material around celebrity jokes for example. Its her safety blanket and a topic she's fairly certain she can get laughs with. That having been said I've watched enough of her stand up to see that if the celeb jokes are bombing Griffin is more then capable of shifting gears and dropping them. If anything she's actually funnier when she isn't trapped into the celebrity joke format.

If Schumer's sex jokes start bombing she's dead on stage. I am willing to bet the primary problem with the Barbie thing was that once Schumer stepped out of her comfort zone she quickly realized she didn't have anything funny to bring to a movie that was going to be built around... her being funny.

How can she be a Barbie without cgi? She's a gross pig.

That's the point really. She's gotten more famous than her creativity can sustain.

I tried watching her Leather show today. I lasted about 20 minutes. I've laughed at her before, but she's just not funny in this thing.

Kathleen Madigan makes me laugh so hard, I have to rewind in places because I miss set-ups for the next joke.

Yeah, that wasn't happening from the get go. Regardless of weight. Not enough makeup in the world

The thing is Amy can be funny when she doesn't focus strictly on being a feminist or being slutty. Unfortunately for her, her comedy is almost exclusively focused on that.
