That's what fast forward on a DVR is for.
Without spoiling too much from last night's episode, man I was surprised at some of the veterans that went out early due to boneheaded mistakes.
I want to get all up amongst Jesse Graff, Casey Catanzzaro, and Meagan Martin.

Where are you watching the Japanese version? If it is on G4 or whatever it was called before and whatever it is called now, it had stories. I know this because I remember them talking about Shingo Yamamoto being a gas station worker and Makoto Nagano is a crab fisherman. They don't go into as much detail, but they definitely did stories. They also did stories on Sasuke on the original Japanese aired version I would watch on YouTube.
Ive watched since the first season of Sasuke was aired in America, they always did stories.

they had stories that were about as in-depth as "makoto nagano is a deep sea fisherman. He practices a lot" and it shows him doing a handstand on his boat. then it starts his run.
not everything is a sob story and they dont make the family act like children and film them as the run goes on. just awful

There is a difference btwn "Yoshi is a coal miner who works at night and practices underground". Off runs Yoshi to start the course
And
Steve is an accountant who's daughter recently got cancer after his wife passed away. Steve built an entire course and thats how him and his daughter spend time together. Cut to Steve. "Yeah I just want to go out here and show her that you can do anything you put your mind to, even fight cancer". Steve either craps out early, or makes it and the crowd starts crying.
Rinse and repeat for every single story.

Yeah, they are a lot more in detail in America, said that. However it is something they did carry over from the original show. They would show Shingo climbing all over his gas station, the same with Makoto and his boat. They did less stories, but again they did do stories. It wasn't just runs like what was suggested.
I miss the people they would let run for comic relief. They need to bring that into the wild card entries instead of trying to pimp out Mighty Casey who sucks.
