AMC in the 80's

If I wanted to bond with my mother I watched AMC movies with her, back in the 80's when they played classic movies with no commercials.
White Christmas is on Netflix and I've really been meaning to watch a Danny Kaye movie.
Any similar stories?

I liked it when it was a classic movie channel although it's hard to argue with the success since the switch.

Saturdays used to be western days. Mom loved watching those old westerns.

Turner bought the MGM and Warner Brothers film libraries, leaving AMC with nothing to show except shitty original programming and second rate movies.

Thank God for TCM.
Prior to AMC and TCM, Ted Turner's "SuperStation" WTBS was one of the go to channels for classic film. That's why Turner was intent on colorizing Hollywood classics. He was trying to expand his audience from those who enjoyed black and white films to those who would only watch movies in color.

AMC used to stand for American Movie Classics.
Now it stands for Another Motherfricking Commercial.

My earliest recollection was the early 90s when it was still classic movies with no commercials.
I loved Halloween time because they would always play the universal monster classics. I remember one year my grandma taped like 8 different monster movies for me.
