Ticket prices for high-profile Hollywood movies may soon rise, as AMC Entertainment explores the possibility of variable ticking pricing.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, AMC CFO Craig Ramsey said the company is considering a more flexible price structure after its recent acquisition of Odeon & UCI Cinemas, during a session at the MKM Partners Entertainment, Leisure and Consumer Technology Conference.

Ramsey noted that Odeon & UCI Cinemas "are further advanced in variable pricing, where tentpole movies are priced up on release," which is something AMC has discussed and considered implementing in the United States.

"We expect to learn a lot with what they've done. We think it will position us to start having those conversations about pricing opportunities in the U.S.," he added.

Seems reasonable. Movies people actually want to see cost more

It's $15.00 for a Matinee ticket at North Park, but only $7.00 at the Drafthouse, which is an infinitely superior experience in every sense of the word. They also charge $15 fricking dollars for one beer.

AMC can honestly frick off. I hope they go the way of Blockbuster treating all of their customers like garbage.

This will be a good way to drive even more people to just steal movies off the internet.

AMC is terrible. They purchase regional theater chains and absolutely ruin them. The Palace facilities used to be a fun place to go. Once AMC took over, they became sterile boxes where the customer experience was of no concern.

I remember watching Star Trek Into Darkness, and they literally had 10+ minutes of AMC commercials. People were literally booing and throwing popcorn at the screen. They also supported at one point allows teens to text and chat in their theaters, which is fricking insane.

AMC is just one of those companies I think the world would be much better off without. Nothing would please me more than for them to go out of business.

The AMC's in Houston have gone to shite. They have become hangout for the thugs, the theater and seats are disgusting, and the movie projectors often need new bulbs.

Damn shame, we used to be AMC frequenters....

Lol at the downvotes...

Face it, your favorite director/producer/actor is very likely a pedophile, drug addict, and/or has sex with trafficked human beings. Deal with it.

So the goal is to get no one to go to the movies at all. Solid plan.

Given the escalation of movie ticket prices the only movie worth seeing in the theater is a blockbuster. And very few of them are interesting enough to be worth 12 or 15 bucks already.

It seems to me that industries keep killing the golden geese and are driving people into movie boycott or piracy.

This would basically give them a monopoly in Baton Rouge. Just them and Movie Tavern. I'm pretty much done with Perkins Rowe because I hate those recliners and having to pick my seat beforehand. I only go to the early showing at AMC because I'm not paying $10 or whatever to watch a movie. Assuming the prices would go down after a few weeks, I'd just wait to see movies.

I'd be okay with it if they would go ahead and discount the shite movies and movies that have been out for a few weeks, but we know that won't happen.

You have a point but certain films are better on the big screen. Seeing Interstellar in IMAX was incredible. The movie isn't as powerful on my home TV.

Good for you AMC. Take that last shred of an advantage you have (price/convenience) and take it out to pasture. I mean I'm getting jacked every time I go anyways, and I've never had crying babies or little assholes at Canal Place.

Its also sorta fun. I usually prefer movies in my home theater, but i also like going to the theater and meeting at the brewpub next door before/after and hanging with my buddies.

and even @ $15, its still cheap entertainment.
