On Netflix?

I really like daredevil and Jessica Jones was ok I guess.

But throw in Luke Cage and the upcoming punisher series and I can see a tipping point where people get tired or worn out from the melo-drama and darkness of that universe.

Like I said, I like it in doses but there has to be some brevity and likeability to the characters somewhere along the way. It seems that TOO much heaviness in stories would become a drag and get boring/stale over time.

Marvel Agents of Shield suffered from the opposite problem early on in season 1 and eventually balanced everything out to become the top Marvel TV show IMO.

I think the darker themes are good for balance in the universe. The films get too Disney for me at times especially with the overuse of one liners.

I do think the Netflix series need to be 10 episodes instead of 13. Daredevil Season 2 was incredible with the Daredevil vs. The Punisher with a little Fisk thrown in. The Hand, Elektra, and Stick made it too convoluted.

I think Iron Fist will lighten up the universe a bit. Be patient.

You lost me there.

I thought JJ was far better than Daredevil. I couldn't even finish season 2 of DD and it took me 3 tries to get through season 1 of DD.

I wasn't interested in Cage when announced but I did like him on JJ so I will give it a watch.

Marvel went in the wrong direction when they let Ditko and Kirby get away.

I don't see Luke Cage as anywhere near as dark as Jessica Jones.

Honestly, it's probably the least dark of the three shows.

So no, I think what they're doing is excellent.

I think the darker Netflix shows help to balance some of the more cartoon-y Disney elements of the films.

don't get me wrong, I love the films, but they do have to appeal to a large age ranged audience.

The things people liked most were some of the darkest parts, Kingpin, Killgrave, Punisher, Cottonmouth. The problem is the heroes aren't the best thing about these shows and in some cases aren't even the 2nd best things. I'm not really sure how you fix that. Maybe joining up for the Defenders will breath some new life into them.

I think Daredevil is the best part of his show. Most of his lame arse friends are the worst part. They really drag the show down. I agree that the last part of season 2 was pretty convoluted. They mashed up 2 seasons of ideas basically so it felt really forced.

The series are just way too long. You don't need 13 hours to tell the stories they are telling. If they cut the seasons down to 8 episodes or so I would appreciate it.

I thought all of the Netflix series have been excellent, and Luke Cage is probably the most likable protagonist they've had.

that's why the Flash is perfect. It has some serious plot lines for the characters but at the end of the day it is a fun show to watch. Daredevil while good is not fun at all. Same with jessica jones. Not done with Luke Cage - it appears a little better but still zero fun.

The Flash really comes around mid-way through season one. It's a great show, but they don't have Barry Allen just right yet. He has to get WAY more cocky and fun along the way.

I agree with this statement. The darker themes work for TV because you get a different audience from the movies. When you drop 300 million on a movie, you want to hit the broadest audience demo you can so you keep it lighter. With TV, you will go after a different demo altogether.

DC needs the dark tone treatment on their tv series'. They're good with their animation though.

Haven't watched much of the Netflix shows, just the first season of daredevil.

I'd like to see a new swampthing, or the perspective of a villain. Like a 6 episode series on how Uxas became darkseid.

The problem is the format and writing and they're far too formulaic.

Agree that these should all be 10 episode seasons instead of 13 .

I did like Luke Cage though. Wasn't perfect, but it was fun and I liked the soundtrack.
