I was about to start a thread asking for bets.
I'm going with Sam.
Also, in the other thread, I get the love for Alan. But the whole "Alan might just quit because he doesn't have anything to prove" is silly. If he quits, he quits. He's no different that the 8 that already quit.
I haven't looked forward to a show like I am tonight's finale in a long time.

Team Alan by a hair. Alan has made this show but Sam is a trooper. Sam being a young soon to be father how could anyone be mad about him winning.

That was only said because its what he said..
I still think Alan wins. If Sam wins.. hes just has more resolve than all the rest.. Alan has actually put himself in a better position to last and they both have proven (along with Lucas and Mitch) that they can adjust and survive long term.

I get that. But at the end of the day they went into a competition to see who could last the longest. In that regard, Alan had nothing to prove other than to win.
He's a very strange a likable guy. So is Sam. I'd like them both to go home with a chunk of change.
Oh yeah, I could have done a year out there and not have cried about missing my family.

Id argue that Alan has the best position.. He has a stable shelter that is solid on multiple sides and also protection from falling debri. He has solid food sources albeit thinning at this point. He built a secondary food shelter and has a solid water source. Lucas was the best builder and his last shelter was solid but had some issues. Im still enamored with Sams resolve. He hasnt had (or atleast shown) a solid meal in weeks after that fat salmon. You can actually see the drastic weight loss in his face. Best outcome for me would be the producers splitting the money for them.
I would not last a year and would strive for a week..

I am going to go with Alan.
I have a feeling the storm they showed in the preview plays hell on Sam's shelter and that will be the deciding factor IMO.

I saw this the other day and it answers my question on how Sam could still be 'functioning' with seemingly so little food.
Here are the ten items Sam selected to bring on his survival journey to Vancouver Island:
1. 12×12 ground sheet tarp
2. Axe
3. Sleeping bag
4. Large 2-quart pot
5. Ferro rod
6. 300 yards of single filament line with 25 assorted hooks
7. Bow and 6 arrows
8. Slingshot
9. Extra emergency rations (5 lbs)
10. Knife
Maybe I'm reading too much into it, & I know it's not a lot, but 5 pounds of food could certainly help, considering mice are all he seems to be eating now.
