Pacino is set to play Paterno himself and the film is set during the 2011 Penn State child molestation scandal.

quote:

The official logline for the film reads: “After becoming the winningest coach in college football history, Joe Paterno is embroiled in Penn State’s Jerry Sandusky sexual abuse scandal, challenging his legacy and forcing him to face questions of institutional failure on behalf of the victims.”

Only if you don't believe in the forgiveness of sins.

Hopefully it's his least sympathetic role yet. Hope it portrays him as a total monster.

I'm 53 years old. Paterno had been at Penn State my entire life. He was regarded as the epitome of class and "doing it the right way" Everything that was good and right with college football. And then the Sandusky bombshell happened and his weak pathetic arse died on us and suffered zero consequence. I don't know what is after death. But Joe Paterno deserves the worst of it.

Only chance I'd see this is if it is Spotlight-ish and involves a lot of procedural drama.

If child rape is front and center, I think I'll pass

Who knows on the script and production, but I can easily see Pacino at his age in those giant Paterno glasses, coat and sneakers looking the part.

I wonder how they are going to reconcile Pacino being so loud and Paterno not saying a damn word.

Pacino says he will look for inspiration from actor John Banner's portrayal of Sergeant Hans Schultz in Hogan's Heroes.
