i think this is the first movie site I ever read since I first got on the internet. Capone and Quint were the only two I read now so I knew I was done with this site when those two left. Haven't read any of Harry's reviews in a long time. Kind of scary imagining that fat ginger sexually harassing women.

Harry Knowles, the movie blogger who founded Ain’t It Cool News, is taking a leave of absence from the popular fan site after being accused of sexually assaulting a number of women.
Knowles allegedly groped and harassed five women over the past few decades, according to multiple reports this week from IndieWire.
“Therapy, detox, and getting to a better place,” Knowles wrote of his departure on Facebook and Twitter late Tuesday. His sister will take over AICN in the interim.
Knowles, who launched the movie blog in 1996, is accused of groping several female members of the film community. One Austin-area movie writer, Britt Hayes, called Knowles a “sexual predator,” claiming he not only assaulted her, but sent her a lewd email asking her to “Show me your tits.”
Knowles steps away just 24 hours after fellow Ain’t It Cool writers Eric “Quint” Vespe, Steve “Capone” Prokopy and “Horrorella” exited the company after another Austin-area woman, Jasmine Baker, shared her story.
“Given the recent allegations against Harry Knowles of behavior impossible to defend, I can not, in good conscience, continue to contribute to the brand I helped build over the last 20 years,” Vespe said in a statement posted Monday. “Effective immediately, I am leaving Ain’t It Cool News.”

Funny that the Entourage character based on him that Rainn Wilson played ended up being kind of spot on.

Knowles is a fricking douchebag who extorted his fans for hundreds of thousands of dollars: LINK
He was just "right place, right time" type of person. He was just the first internet critic and news sharer. People would quickly come to the internet and be much better than he was at it. He claimed that he needed tens of thousands of dollars per episode to do an internet review show. It's ridiculous. At least get advertisers to sponsor your show and not extort your fans.

It's not surprising, just as it wasn't with Faraci. Both were total scumbags.

He's been in a wheelchair for a few years, I guess because he's too fat to walk. I was trying to imagine him groping women from his chair but these allegations are old.

I read about this last night. I hadn't been to the site in years, since a desk job while I was in college, but still remembered Quint and Capone.

The site has been terrible for years. I only continue to go for the talk backs which the coward has now deleted no doubt to prevent talk about his actions. Any comparable sites out there? I am going to miss Quint's Thanksgiving merchandise articles.

He's a miserable far POS who had been on the payroll of movie companies for many years now. Hell Tarantino flew his Fatass to Asia to watch them Film scenes from kill Bill. Dude is shite
Posted on 9/27/17 at 10:48 pm to Brosef Stalin
Wait. What? I mean.... how would that even happen? Dude is like a million pound ginger that rocks a wheelchair????

I love this story and can't get enough of it. I HATE Harry Knowles. He's a fricking fraud, who pretends to be kind of the geeks and he doesn't know shite. Plus he CAN NOT write. And he ripped off his followers with a Kickstarter campaign for a PBS show no one wanted. When the show aired a year or two later, it was made of old footage and looked like it cost $200 to make. He raised over $100k -- you know that money was spent on Tex-Mex food and action figures. He got lucky by being in the right place at the right time and pissed it all away because he was too lazy to do any real work and didn't want to just sell the brand to AOL for millions because that would mean giving up his little bit of fame.
Plus, how the frick you have stomach stapling surgery and don't lose any weight? What a nauseating slob of a human being. fricking man-baby. Pretending he was a feminist while he was trying to rub his (no-doubt) tiny pecker against young women who tear tickets at a movie theater.
I got banned from AICN multiple times for saying stuff like how I would like to see him get raped by a large animal or how someone should tip him out of his wheelchair and piss all over him. I can't wait until this frickhead has to sell all of his toys to buy groceries and pay the electric bill. I'd buy his collection for pennies on the dollar, but only if I could run the shite over with a steamroller while he was strapped in a chair and forced to watch it "Clockwork Orange" style.

Alamo Draft House is taking a hit as well. They just got called out for sneaking Faraci back in through the back door after his grope-gate. Now it comes out that Knowles was doing his thing at Alamo.

Jesus. I thought I didn't like the guy.

I bailed on AICN once the studios began to bribe Knowles. All that they had to do was airlift him to some remote movie set overseas, and he'd report back with a teary-eyed tale of how special and endearing the cast and crew were.

AICN was the original and a part of my late teen and early college years.
But I hadn't been to that site in well over a decade. I went upon hearing this news and it looks exactly the same.
I despised Faraci with every fiber of my being from the old CHUD days, and disliked Knowles too.
AICN didn't change with times and was likely dying anyway.

He gave a lot of glowing reviews to movies that were otherwise trashed by most other critics. I got tired of his reviews when they all started with some novel sized anecdote about him going to the theater when he was 8. Then he would get into his actual review. He very rarely gave negative reviews.

He hated Christopher Nolan for some reason, which makes me like Nolan more. Knowles fell asleep during Inception, thought The Dark Knight Rises would have been better if it had featured Man-Bat, didn't like Interstellar. The funny thing is if Nolan had sent any crappy prop to the guy and made a 5-minute phone call, Knowles would have slobbered over everything he did.

His glowing review of Dark Knight Rises would've been:
"As the Gotham skyline appeared on screen, I was taken back to my time on the set in Pittsburgh. During a break in shooting, the sweet Christian Bale sat beside me on an anvil case that was labeled in spray paint as "DKR PA". Christian let his guard down and explained to me just how much it meant for him to play the caped crusader, and what a huge responsibility he carried as the current Batman. I put my arm around him as he went on, eventually apologizing to me for getting so sentimental when he should be preparing for his next scene. As he got up, a batarang fell from his belt. I picked it up and went to hand it to him, only to have him place his hand on mine, saying, "Please. You keep it. You've been such a good friend." I now keep that batarang in a place of honor, on my desk, next to the tobacco pipe given to me by Ian McKellan in New Zealand, the pencil sharpener given to me by Elijah Wood on the set of The Faculty, and the butt plug given to me by Pauly Shore on the set of Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star.
Dark Knight Rises: Five Stars! Two Thumbs Up!"
