advice on when to arive for midnight premiers of big movies

ok simple question some of my friends and I are going to see the hobit at midnight next thursday night. I have only been to one midnight premier before this one so I'm not sure what the best time to show up is.
any advice where must I show up in order to get a good seat?

The only time I ever did this was for the first of the Star Wars prequels (hope nobody calls it Star Wars I, Star Wars 1, Star Wars One or anything like that). Saw it on the largest screen in the state of Texas. Got there a couple of hours before it showed.
We paid one of the guys' four kids $20 each to go stand in line all day for us.

If you already ordered your ticket in advance why does it matter? You'll have a seat. If you don't want first row, come about 30 early.
