Actors famous for one role.....

and the actor is just as well known despite it just being the one role. They have become so attached to that role they are basically perceived as one.
Norman Reedus/Daryl - The Walking Dead
Jason David Frank/Tommy Oliver - Power Rangers
Will Wheaton - Wesley Crusher
Other than not landing other major roles what else defines it? What explains their universal popularity in the respective fanbase?
I think being the first incarnation of a character as well. With the Walking Dead, any character in the GN gets compared to the show counterpart constantly. With Daryl (and to an extent Merle) being completely show originals that no one can say "Daryl sucks he was better in the GN" like they did with say Andrea.
I think fan interaction has something to do with it. All of these actors embraced the silliness of their role/fandom and use it as self love. Its no coincidence that they also hit the convention circuit hard.
Anyone else?

Um...Boondock Saints ring a bell? He's pretty well known for that too.
Adrian Brody in The Pianist. Because, what has he done since?

you are right Boondock Saints is popular its the same situation with people being labeled 1 hit wonders when they've had several. One greatly outshines the rest.

I'm going to get hammered for this but I know Robert Shaw as Quint and only Quint.

He was Henry VIII in "A Man For All Seasons" and Mallory, the demolition expert, in "Force Ten From Navarone". Neither of these were as memorable as Cap't Quint, but he played many roles.

I never watched MitM, but it is a testament to how great Bryan Cranston was in BB that WW is how most people will remember him from now on.
To be honest, I know Michael Keaton has done lots of shite (and some of it VERY popular), but I will always mainly recognize him as Batman.
Jason Biggs as Jim from American Pie is another one (though I fricking LOVE Saving Silverman).
