Not sure if this is the right board but I'm definitely interested and wanted to see if anyone had advice.

If you're going to film school, why not just go to UCLA, USC or NYU. If you're going to do it big, then do it big. Go all in.

Yeah I know nothing of film school, but if you're going to do it, I'd assume you probably need to be at one of those programs to give yourself a fighting chance.

UNO has a very respected documentary program last i heard

cost is a huge factor and you can get involved in various aspects of production with a film degree. UNO is the best option for cost-conscious Louisiana citizens for sure. so if you want to be involved in film but not the very top (director, lead writer, etc), it could be a wise economical choice

and you want to go to school where movies are being made. currently Louisiana fits into that check box (for now, and we don't have executive proliferation or any of that which hurts)

I assume if he's going to film school he has to have big goals and dreams. You don't wanna spend all that money and then a couple of years from now be like "if only I had went to LA or NY, things would be different, I would be way more successful."

If this is what you want to do with the rest of your life, go make it happen. If you don't take risks then you will never make it in film.

Lol. I'm sure he would like to. Those schools are very difficult to get into out of state and they cost even more.

Reminds me of a chick a couple of weeks back. She was going to Yale Law School and she just casually said, "make sure if you go to law school, you go to an Ivy League."

My sister actually lives in California, but yea, the cost is too high for me lol. Plus, I know they're incredibly hard schools to get into, well the film schools.

Depends on what you want to do .... Editor ? Art department ? Etc .....

Probably going to say director. Honestly I can't remember a director I have worked with that went to film school.
