Glad Ten Commandments isn't listed or I'd have to question everything I know about ancient Middle East history

I don't think this is really as bad as the others. I don't think it made any pretenses to being actually based on history like some of the others. At least I didn't take it like that. I always thought of it completely as a work of fiction. The historian would have just made the setting truer to the period where it is supposed to have been set.

This list is shite, most of these do t even claim to be true. You mean Maximus isn't a real person who killed emperor Commodus in a Gladiator battle? No shite

I'd rather see a list of historically accurate movies. They're harder to find.

Even Schindler's List isn't accurate.

guy the British guy in The Patriot was based on

His exploits may have been exaggerated as far as brutality but if they were they were back then, weren't just totally made up for the movie, although the movie probably added another layer to it.

Most historians don't agree with that biographer's assessment.

Since it won a recent Oscar I'll add Argo. None of the last interrogation or Hollywoody tarmac chase happened.

Not only that, but the Americans who were hiding in the Canadian ambassador's home weren't as stressed or as scared as the movie portrays them as. They never really felt endangered and the Iranians never came close to finding and capturing them.

we must protect the Movie/tv board against those who would claim the Patriot as halfway decent

Do any of these movies claim to be anything more than very loosely based on the truth?

Where's Abe Lincoln vampire hunter? He was a real person, obviously it's based on a true story...

Argo spent ten minutes congragulating itself on the accuracy of it's cinematography at the end. It didn't open with a corresponding disclaimer, but maybe it should have since it won best picture over ZD30.
