The only uplifting episode is San Junipero

They are pretty heavy. It's the type of show that I cannot watch multiple episodes back to back.

Can't do it. Tried. Appreciate what they're doing. Hate the show.

That first episode was such a joke. I really didn't even see what it had to do with technology and how it hurts us. All they did was kidnap someone important and force someone to do something horribly embarrassing to get her back. Technology was a small part of it but not vital. They could have had him frick the pig in the middle of a public square if they wanted to. I started the next episode and could only watch the guy ride that bike for so long. The episode never went anywhere although the use of technology was much more obvious.

How is that one not depressing

Despite their good intentions, the viewers can be seen as villains as well.

I wouldn't say that any of them are not depressing.

White Bear and White Christmas are probably my top 2. The one with Hayley Atwell was depressing as frick. Entire History of You was a tough watch for me. I thought both characters were unlikeable. The race to the bottom for them was hard for me. 15 million merits I enjoyed. I didn't hate Waldo as much as some people in the other thread did.

The biggest mistake BM ever made was putting the worst episode first and people not realizing that it's not a linear story.

Do youself a favor and watch episode 3, Entire History of You. Taht is what "black mirror" is all about. E1 (national anthem) and The Waldo Moment aren't even real BM episodes and quite frankly kinda suck. Every other episode in the series is far better and have ENTIRELY different feels.

If you watch EHOY and don't like it, hey no problem you gave it a shot. But don't judge BM based on the first episode.

the one where everyone is on stationary bicycles and locked in rooms with ads really fricked with me for a couple of hours

I watched it as my wife was asleep late at night so it was even more depressing due to the setting

I haven't watched since

Not just COULD happen. It does happen on a lesser scale.

Ever heard of the term "ransomware"?
