3-D has turned into a ripoff

Practically every movie has some sort of 3-D version come out now, and when I actually go see it, there's no real 3D. For example, I saw Inside Out, and I had pretty much no way to differentiate it from a 3D movie. I took my glasses off a couple times during the movie and didnt notice anything different at all. When 3D first came out, it was really cool to see stuff pop out at you, but now they just charge you the price of a 3D ticket and dont give you anything 3D at all. Whats worse is, since the tickets are more expensive, they give those features the better movie times like 7:00 and 8:00 so you have no choice but to pay the extra price and see it.
Also, how is "recycling" 3D glasses "green?"

Not becoming...it always was.
Most movies toss in the 3-D post filming. Very few films shoot in 3-D.
The Avatar revolution of studios paying to license the tech, never happened.

the theater reuses them after a wash, thus saving them from having to shell out for new glasses. This saves them money. Money is green.
GREEN.

3D usually gives me a headache so I don't go anyway, but this is another reason why. It's underutilized.
The only movie I've seen where I thought it was a cool addition was Avatar

It always has been. The only 3 movies on the top of my head that have actually done something with it are Avatar, Tron Legacy, and Gravity, and that's it.

Nope. Near zero impact on film.

I get motion sickness when it's not natively shot in 3d.

I see lots of movies and none of them are in 3D. You have plenty of choices.

Some are better than others, check the "to 3d or not to 3d" site before buying your tickets

Take your glasses off in the middle of the film and you realize they are barely using any kind of 3-D besides the beginning and the end
You pay 5 extra bucks for shitty quality.

It always has been. Either the studios need to really do something with it or it needs to die out altogether. People are wising up to the fact that it's a ripoff and maybe we'll see a response from Hollywood on it.

I think that there are only two environments that can really benefit from 3D: Space (and you have to go balls to the wall and not half arse it) and a technical reality that is designed to create dissonance with the actual reality (ie: TRON). Avatar was cool, but it didn't really improve the story, tension, or tone at all.

I saw Jaws 3 in 3D as a kid. That one was done right.

Agreed.
Visually yes, however it has a very terrible story and blatantly political as a souped up retelling of Pocahontas.

I think you may have wandered into the wrong theater.

3D only works if they plan shots around it. I've seen several movies recently in a standard theater, where I could tell certain scenes were meant for 3D.
Even then I think 3D mostly works for rides or shows at Disney, but loses its effect in feature length film. With features, 99% of the movie just looks puffy or like cardboard cutouts.
