Why is he even paying attention to that while hosting the Oscars? Especially if it's only on Truth Social or whatever it is called.

Because someone else (producer) likely was monitoring it and fed it to Kimmel.

Trump really couldn’t help himself either.

Trump is his own worst enemy. That entire sequence was a clear L and stuff like that makes it tough for people to embrace him.

The overwhelming majority of people couldn't care less about the Oscars or Jimmy Kimmel.

There should be a strong push for John Mulaney to host the Oscars. He's tremendously funny.

That's why they hate Alec Baldwin. Because he played Trump on SNL. Even though every sitting president has been lampooned on SNL since it's inception. Fragile trumpers are the only ones to get upset about skits

American Fiction is very clever and well-written. Wright, as always, is outstanding.
The title of his fake book is “My Pafology”. I laughed out loud.

So Trump made the comment on Truth Social and not even Twitter? Why is he even paying attention to that while hosting the Oscars? Especially if it's only on Truth Social or whatever it is called.

He literally has bit called mean tweets. They were probably planning to do it in that spot, and of course Trump can’t stay off social media and lobs them an alley oop

I don’t care who you are the Cheeto Jesus bit is funny!

But seriously, here is the thing that Hollywood doesn’t understand about Trump, they gave him what he is after: attention and more importantly media coverage.

It has long been known that media coverage whether negative or positive helps Trump in the polls.

It’s like they gave him a free commercial with a whole day the next day of headlines, sound bites, and social media influence.

All of the political bullshite aside, it was a better than usual and entertaining broadcast. Kimmel is 100% at ease doing this and the writers fed him some great lines and bits.

• They still can't get the In Memoriam right, (which is odd because it's the one segment that they can have in the can prior to the show).

• I think that Barbie was garbage but Ryan Gosling's Oscar song performance was hilarious and was a show stopper.

• The bit with them celebrating the anniversary of the David Nivens streaker with Cena presenting nude was cleverly obnoxious.

• Nicholas Cage should present one Oscar every year.

• The bit with Mr. Freeze and The Penguin hating on Batman was fun and kind of heartwarming.

• Why they insist on having the oldest, most out of it stars to present the most important Oscar of the night is beyond me. It's as if they're asking for it to go wrong.

But other than a couple of unentertaining songs, it was a good show.

Academy Awards viewership:

1984 - 42 million
1994 - 45 million
2004 - 44 million
2014 - 44 million
2024 - 19 million

Nobody cares anymore.

Barbie wasn't my cup of tea or anything, but the I'm Just Ken performance was pretty great

Ryan stole the show once again, just like he did in the movie.

I think they really shot themselves in the foot by casting him in the film. He's obviously the best thing in the movie. But if the point of the movie is to showcase women over men, why cast the most charismatic actor in Hollywood as your lead actor? For box office his casting makes sense, but if the argument is, "Do you really want Ken in charge?" the answer is yes. If Michael Cera had been Ken... lesser movie, but point made.

I agree with most of your points, especially the last two.

They have so many reasonable presenters for the major awards, and then for Best Picture, they go with someone who definitely can’t correctly identify what month of the year it is

Just contrast the demeanor of Spielberg with Pacino
