Trailer
Colin Farrell, Viggo Mortensen, Joel Edgerton, directed by Ron Howard
Streaming on Prime 8/5

Thoughts? Gonna be hard to top that amazing documentary ‘The Recue’ but looks interesting. Curious if it’s basically gonna be a shot for shot remake since the true story needs no Hollywood magic

I watched the documentary one weekend. It was amazing. It had plenty of footage of them finding the team, and footage of them getting them to certain points in the cave where they would switch divers to another part of the cave while rescuing them. It was awesome. It really is amazing they got all of them out.

Looks really good. I'm in.

As a very very amateur diver and remembering the rescue in real time the documentary was fascinating. This looks very well done and I'm here for it.

Like most things that get national or worldwide attention, there was a really good informative thread on TD.com that followed the rescue.

I'm a total sucker for this story. Will watch.

The documentary was great. I hope the kids and their families actually get some money from this instead of their corrupt government taking it all.

Yeah, our threads covering real world events have background, deep analysis, graphs and charts. Real journalism, just crowd-sourced.

It will be tough to beat the "check ya mics" thread about the Boston Marathon Bombing aftermath, though.

Oh nice!

I remember following this story live in real time on the OT a few years ago. I was so glad that everyone made it out safely. And when they did, I said this would be made into a movie at some point, and I would be sure to watch it.

This is confusing. I tried looking up this documentary. I saw one from pbs from 1974 about 12 kids in a flooded cave in Thailand. Are you saying the same thing happened a few years ago?

Yes. Watch this:

The Rescue (2021)

It's incredibly well done and an amazing story. You can stream it on Disney+.

That looks promising for sure ..... and no way that doesn't get a theatrical with MGM/BRON, the actors and director.

interesting .. just saw a limited, select release. And in July. Makes me think they may not have a great film on their hands or too similar to the very well done documentary. Or they are releasing to get awards eligible. Who knows.

Watching this now on prime. I can’t recall if I heard about this story. It sounds familiar. The movie is great so far. About half way in and they havnt figured out how to get them out yet.
