Dirty or not, basketball was a lot dirtier back in the day with the bad boys. The play Zaza made the other night was nothing compared to those boys. In my humble opinion, it was a good close out, but he did slide his foot underneath.

So how is it a good close out?

Coming from a jump shooter, I always hated it when people stuck their feet under me when I shot. I have blown out each of my ankles a couple times from people doing that. I would much rather physical plays, and getting blasted in the lane, than have a torn up ankle and in a walking boot for 6-8 weeks.

He got a hand up and challenged the shot without making contact with his upper body. I think it was a cheap shot by the spurs bench taking him out earlier lol

Honestly I can't stand the bad boys Pistons simply for the fact that they have pretty much ruined any chance of objective discussion on the state of NBA basketball.

No way to truly know.

But in my opinion, it's probably just a habitual thing that Zaza does...almost without thinking.

No matter what, Pop is the last person on this planet to be whining about that play.

Can't get a foot underneath your foot if you're an unathletic white guy that only gets a couple inches off the ground

The interesting thing about those years is that even though defenses were supposedly so tough, scoring averages were way up. To me, team's like Riley's Knicks and Heat squads junked up the league more than the Pistons ever did.

I was taught and later on taught closing out as small choppy steps and getting a hand in the face. Zaza did that for the most part. However, he appeared to block out after the shot and that is when the foot went under. All I'm saying is I have seen a lot worse. Do I think he is a dirty player? Absolutely. I would not put it past him trying to take Kawi out but I just don't think that play was dirty

Well seeing as he is their goon and Leonard is by far the person who carries the Spurs it seems suspicious from the start.

Also Green has shown that the team is not against dirty plays and bad sportsmanship. The Warriors are just a truly unlikable organization due to the personalities on their team.

This. It's a shitty play that needs to be addressed. But my sympathy for Kawhi lessens each time Bruce Bowen's coach speaks on the matter.

Well Shaq made it perfectly clear last night how NBA bigs know what they are doing on a play like that. The guy was making no excuses for it.

Barkley agreed and only held back from declaring him a completely dirty player.

I would say if a team took Lebron James or Kevin Durant out with a dirty play it would basically end that team's series. That is why this is such a screwed up situation.

This. The Knicks/Heat/Pacers were in my opinion just as bad.

I disagree with them being unlikable. I had the opportunity to meet Klay Thompson, Curry, Green, Durant, and Livingston. They were pretty down to earth

1. Zaza's head was up the whole time as he challenged the shot. If he was trying to do it it he would have been looking down trying to position his foot.

2. Leonard landed on the back of his foot. If he was trying to do it on purpose he would have been facing the other way with his whole foot stuck out.

It is unfortunate but this was just the case of a big clumsy dude trying to play good defense.

Shaq and Charles are no bull shite guys that are NBA All-Time greats. Neither of them made any excuses for Zaza. Shaq was adamant that it is something that big man in the NBA know.

Zaza is also not some rookie.
