Walking away from over $23 million per year guaranteed tells you he is confident he will get a better deal. How much do you think he, and his agent, feel he is worth? There are not too many teams that can afford more than he is currently making for a longer term contract.

He's going to get atleast 130 on the open market. He's an interesting case, because he has anxiety issues and has in the past avoided certain cities because of it.

People freaked out about him coming to LA because of that. Never had any issues

Compared to football players that are killing themselves or basketball & hockey players that can't walk post retirement?

Yeah, I'd say a starting pitcher post retirement has it a lot better than most of the other high dollar athletes.

Hockey and football players are worse off purely because of head injuries but Starting pitchers have it just as bad if not worse than basketball players

Oh I'm not hating on him, but I know Gammons has said he never took Boston or New York seriously because of it. I understand how bad anxiety is. Didn't he used to have really bad panic attacks?

Some team is going to grossly over pay him. I have always wondered why baseball players get paid based upon what they've already accomplished and football players get paid based upon what teams think they have left in the tank.
