Youth sports guys, what's your league's policy on lightning?

I was at a game last night where the umpire waited way too long to call it, with visible cloud to ground lightning in the area. Nothing happened, just like nothing happens 99 times out of a hundred. But all it takes is that one time.

Close lightning is a 30 minute delay and the 30 minutes starts over every new lightning strike in the area.
At least I think that's what it is.

Nothing until a kid takes a bolt to the face...then 15 min delay.

Rub some dirt in it and walk it off.

Ours changed, the new policy is that once lightening is in the area, all of the children grab aluminum bats and hold them up as high as they can.
We often pour water on the ground where they stand and sometimes stick a lightening rod in one of the childs bats.

Lightning detectors for the win.
If any occur within a certain mile range, games are delayed up to 45min to see if it will pass or not.

Better if they climb up on the dugout, especially one with a light pole directly adjacent.

Dump all the ball buckets out and fill with water. Open up the water bucket. Have as many as possible stand with at least one foot in a bucket.
Seriously though. As an umpire, if you see lightning (besides the flash type behind the clouds), you need to stop the game.

We play all our games in domes, so I don't really have any experience with lightning delays.
