Any other choice would rank among the stupidest ever.

I'm not saying Winston is a high character fellow, but this "character" issue as a detriment to his draft value is mostly manufactured b.s. for people like Dan Patrick and Rich Eisen to have something to talk about. The NFL, for the most part, does not care one way or another about your character.

Mariota will be a bust unless he goes to Philly.

Name a Super Bowl winning QB who was known to be a headcase in college.

Ben Roethlisberger has his problems, but the dude was all class at Miami (OH). Didn't he write Nick Saban a letter after his game against LSU?

That's a good question, but here's the kicker: if you frick up your draft choice you're rewarded with other high draft choice(s).

If you only considered on-field production I think Jameis is the no doubt #1 pick. With that said, we are well aware of the character concerns. If he does mess up and gets in trouble, the Bucs will be slammed with the "you should have seen it coming", a la Manziel with the Browns this year.

I'm not giving Winston a ton of cash. I'll take my chances with a OL or something.

That way I can survive with a shite QB until a "no brainer" emerges.

Except if he ends up in trouble and missing games, you've totally wasted a pick. Risk vs Reward

From a talent standpoint I think you take him, they need a QB. But it is a potentially a big PR problem, Gator fans make up a huge portion of the fanbase. Not sure how they would react. Usually isn't a big deal, but Winston is obviously a much more controversial figure.

All that matters to the fans will be wins and losses. If he fricks up and causes them to lose, he will be crucified. But if he wins who cares what school he went too.

If you pass on Jameis for an OLineman and he plays well and whoever you have at QB doesn't, you won't be around to wait for a no brainer.

Don't you have to at least be good in college to get drafted? Much less the #1 pick

Ordinarily I would agree, it typically doesn't matter. Players are usually embraced regardless of whether they went to UF, FSU or Miami. However, Winston is a much more controversial figure. It would initially piss a lot of people off, and could turn away quite a few people. Of course if they win, they would probably come running back.

There's a lot more to winning ball games than drafting QBs. Obviously way more than can fit in little dialogue boxes on the internet.

In my perfect world scenario. I'd just run the ball and play defense, assuming the other 30 draft picks over 3 years reasonably worked out. Hence, why making multi-year pronouncements on chat message boards simply don't work.

If trade it and get all I could. Possibly 2 first rounders. Use those for one top defensive player and one OL. I mean if ur going to go with Winston. Just trade something small for RG3.
