I'm an x-college umpire. Everything remains alive and the run scores. The fielder has to throw around that runner. If the runner does nothing to intentioanlly get in the way of the throw, then there is no interference.

that's why in college we were taught to throw the ball right between his fricking eyes if he didn't get down.

yeah, you as the runner have to take one for the team if the other team plays like that

Their choice... bean you in the head or try to make a play to keep the other team from winning

agree

and besides if umps called that shite people wouldn't have to make a throw from second to first... they just bean the runner and blame him for not avoiding your throw

GL with that... hard to fricking dodge when you are running in the direction of the guy throwing at your chest

Retarded game you're playing where a double play with no outs preceding can end a game.

Additionally, I have seen a few references to MLB rules and a ref from a college umpire. You might want to check the NFHS rules. There are MANY have have significant differences.

Can't assume a double play

where? i saw where he wrote win instead of when but i mean that was pretty easy to figure out what he meant.

eta: is this sentence what is confusing everyone? if so again i guess i give you people too much credit.

not to mention if there is a runner on 1st and 3rd with no outs and the guy on third is the winning run why are they bothering trying to turn 2 instead of going to the plate?

come on people. fail all over.

....when.

anyway it was the bottom of the 5th in a 7 inning game and they were WINNING (sheen) by a run at the time. they went on to score that run and another in the inning. we scored 1 in the 6th and lost by 2 runs.

eta// we didn't lose b/c of this, we lost cause we couldn't get hit's with runners in scoring postion and my team knows that.....this was just a call that was made and after MUCH debate it went against us.

If he hit the guy in the chest I don't think he could have gotten out of the way. Bad throw.

This happened in the World Series, Yankees vs Dodgers, I believe that ball hit Reggie Jackson.

The replays showed that Jackson leaned his shoulder into the ball. If I remember right, Jackson should have been called out.
