#OTD in 1946, catcher Larry (Yogi) Berra makes MLB debut for #Yankees. Homers in first game and a legend begins.

dunno know about Peej, however, I was fortunate to see him play at the old stadium in the mid to late 50's - there wasn't a better bad ball hitter in the bigs - pitchers were burned with wasted pitches against Yogi.

Yogi was what baseball SHOULD be about,, A class act everywhere he went... A True ICON for the sport... A GREAT player and a three time MVP on some of the greatest Yankee teams ever.

Can't wait to see the Yankees and Cardinals way of honoring him tonight, among all the other MLB teams that will surely do something as well.
