HARTFORD, Conn. --

(AP) World Wrestling Entertainment is asking a federal judge to block lawsuits by former wrestlers who claim they have suffered long-term health problems from concussions they received in the ring.

The Stamford-based company, in its own lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Connecticut on Monday, argues the wrestlers' claims are fraudulent and barred because of a three-year statute of limitations on such claims in Connecticut.

The company, which already is facing several lawsuits across the nation, is also asking that all such litigation be moved to federal court in Connecticut.

Former Wrestler Robert Windham, who wrestled under the name "Blackjack Mulligan," is one of those named in WWE's lawsuit. He says he has been diagnosed with dementia and blood clots in his brain, and feels abandoned by WWE.

yeah why aren't old wrestlers filing suits for their neck, back, and leg injuries?

oh let me guess. the WWE also hid publicly-available data, just like the NFL.

The WWE just chews through human beings. The number of pro wrestlers who have committed suicide or died young is extremely high....to the point that if it was a real sport and not entertainment, there would have been huge media investigations and Congress would have held hearings. I don't want to think what kinds of steroids, painkillers, uppers and downers wrestlers have to be on in order to compete and travel to a couple of matches a week.

I'm being serious. The whole thing is fake, right? And if so how in the hell are you getting concussed if you're not actually fighting?

The outcomes are pre-ordained, and the punches are phantom. But there is real contact, real collisions, real acrobatics, etc.

Think of it more like stuntmen, instead of actors.

Yep. It's why so many of them get hooked on painkillers.

Chris Benoit had an estimated 20-25 concussions that went undiagnosed.

I heard an interview recently with Del Wilkes, aka The Patriot, and he said at his worst he was taking around 120 pain pills daily to function. He would simply take 10-15 at a time, chew them up, and wash them down with water.

Outcomes and storylines are scripted, punches and kicks that can be faked (chest chops can't be) are faked. The mat isn't as hard as they make it out to be, but it isn't that soft either. They still slam themselves into it who knows how many times a day every day every year.
