Losers of 9 out of the last 12 games, including going 2-5 against horrible Minnesota.

This should not have been a tough stretch of games for them, even though it included a long road trip.

No starting pitching right now. Darvish, Lewis, & Holland are all on the DL & the guys they have filling in are not doing the job. It is getting bad fast.

Darvish and Colby out on a rotation that was already top heavy. Hamels hasn't pitched well in like his last three starts. Outside of maybe the Cubs, this All-Star break couldn't have come sooner

They've been playing above their heads all season. The rotation is awful outside of Hamels and Darvish. The offense is decent, but not elite. They do play good defense, so they have that going for them.

They're falling back to earth after a lot of luck early this season. At one point, the Rangers were 17-4 in one-run games which is absurd. They're 2-3 in their last five one-run games. An average team has a .230 winning percentage when trailing going into the 5th inning. At one point earlier this season, the Rangers had a record of 12-12 when trailing going into the 5th inning. They now have a record of 12-18 when trailing going into the 5th inning. A lot of things that were going their way earlier this season is now stabilizing back to the norm. But I don't think Rangers fans have much to worry about. They have built a nice cushion and will still win 90+ games and make the playoffs this year.

Texas has team OPS of .755 and an OPS allowed of .771. They have been extremely fortunate in sequencing their hits and runs. Their baseruns record is actually 43-47, so they are +11 there. No other team is better than +6.

FWIW, The Cubs have basically the same winning percentage as the Rangers, but they have a .786 OPS and .664 OPS allowed.

My CBS Sports app sends updates every half inning, and they have been getting absolutely blasted by the Twins.

Saves me time though, because I'm not about to turn that game on and watch

Probably just a regression back to the norm. Same for the Cubs. The Rangers aren't as bad as they have been recently. However, they aren't as good as they were prior to this slump. You could probably say the same thing for Houston with their slow start. Their improved play is a progression back to the norm.

It's a two horse race in the AL West. Houston is probably the better team, but it will be tight. The good thing for both is that besides games against one another, they will get to feed off of a weak division the rest of the way. It's not like the AL East where you have at least 3 teams beating each other up. Whoever loses the race between Houston and Texas should be in position to at least grab a WC spot
