They need to flip Wiggins for other pieces while they still can

Agreed

Otherwise, I don't really like this deal all that much for either team. Wiggins/Butler is not a good fit at all.

I think they would have been better off long term keeping Lauri Markkanen. Dude is the next Dirk.

2-3 years from now a Markkanen/ Wiggins combo would be challenging AD/ Cousins for the best pair of bigs in the league (assuming the Pels can hold those 2 together)

I get where you're coming from, but he's a a 22 year old freak athlete averaging 23 ppg. He will be valuable for a while.
Except thus far his value is worth a league minimum salary. Terrible defense + average shooting and scoring + terrible passing + terrible rebounding = little value

Surely you mean Towns not Wiggins, right?

This is precisely why you flip him. Let other teams fall for the physical attributes while the numbers say he hardly improved, and arguably declined, in year 3.

Wiggins stats make him seem way better than he is, though.

He has a negative VORP, and his PER was 16.5 last year, which is basically average. He was 93rd in PER.

He is still young and can develop, but 3 years isn't really a small sample size. He is very inconsistent, and not good defensively.

Wiggins is effectively the third option now. So we will see how that changed his overall performance.

Also the Wolves can easily bring in another big name with their cap/roster situation.

Effort? I had no idea he was terrible one defense.

They need shooting.

This... They need more shooting for better spacing. But, with Butler and Wiggins on the wings they will get to the foul line and put teams in a bind on the interior by slashing and finishing at the rim.

If they can somehow get that stretch 4 (Dieng ain't it) along with a couple of sharp shooters, they will extremely dangerous. But, as of today they are a slash and dash team with a point guard who is suited better in pick-n-roll situations.

Butler and Wiggins should, I said should, form the best duo in terms of defense on the wings and ability to get easy buckets at the rim. But, that is to be seen obviously.

i think it can only help him for now. counting stats may go down, but i think efficiency and percentages will improve which will help him a ton in the long run.

i love wiggins, i wont hide that, and i still believe he will be a star.
