Yahoo Sports-WNBA: Wings' new Nike Rebel jersey pulled for not aligning with shared diversity values

Dallas Wings, Nike, the WNBA and the Dallas Wings are pulling the franchise's new Rebel edition jersey after having "recently learned" the real history of the design meant to honor female empowerment.

The league released three new uniforms for each of its 12 teams on April 8 under the name "H.E.R." for its Heroine Edition, Explorer Edition and Rebel Edition. The Rebel jerseys "applaud the irreverent voices who define each team's home city and state."

The Wings honored the P-40 Warhawk plane and Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) corps from World War II. But the decision faced scrutiny in the days after the announcement because WASP excluded Black women.

Can you blame them? There is no way that those long fingernails wouldn’t interfere with the flight controls.

I like how we blasted right past women finally getting their shine for dudes who want to cut off their penis.

Somewhere, shel is beaming with joy.

ETA: Oh is this a race thing? I can’t keep up anymore.

Can the WNBA go a week without being “outraged” by some stupid bullshite? If you’re that desperate for attention maybe play decent basketball?

I had never heard of that program. It would be pretty cool to read up more on them.

In any case, it would've been better if they could still honor the WASP corps, while still acknowledging their faults at the time. That's better instead of just ignoring all together.

Those service women, weren't at fault, they didn't make the rules. They served their country in a time of need and should be honored.

Susan B Anthony was a noted racist, and it's hilarious watching white women skip around that.

If you really, really want to piss people off, bring up Margaret Sanger and her passion for Eugenics, while also pointing out the placement of her original clinics and demographics targeted.

They can't. If they went ahead with it, all those statues of founding fathers would get to remain. Remember, the Left is a death cult that only aims for destruction of things. They'll forgo producing something like this if it empowers them to destroy things good people enjoy.

"Let's honor those women pilots"

The program rejected black women.

"Nah let's not honor those women pilots even though they had no say how the program was conducted".
