It's worse than that. Have you ever been to Wichita? It's 1989 there.

I hate this wrong board shite. It's LSU related (kind of). Only current LSU coaches and players can be discussed here?

No, former players with relevant info can be here. This is very loosely related to LSU.

Remember, this is an LSU website, so the MSB will solicit the type of responses you would want.

not relevant; I know, but I'm comparing recent success rates.

Didn't Stevenson quit Wichita St. just a few years ago, drive down to his new school, turn around, and then renege on his acceptance and return to Wichita St.?

Grew up in Wichita for several years and no one i talked to liked Gene and that was before the 2005 incident(when he took the oklahoma job). He also stalked a woman a few years back and settled out of court.

Stephenson is Grand Illusion Victim. What a great play. Bertman helped draw this up.

Cal Irvine tried that play several times against us in the Super Regional in Baton Rouge. IIRC, it worked once.

I never understood why Witchita held on to him so long after their CWS runs in the late 80s and early 90s

He won the only national title in that conference's history. Ever.

quote:

The team’s 1989 national title was a unique accomplishment, as it’s the only one for a team out of the Sun Belt or California between Ohio State’s 1966 title and the Oregon State back-to-back crowns of 2006-2007. And Stephenson’s .735 winning percentage entering the season ranked third among active Division I coaches behind North Carolina’s Mike Fox and Florida State’s Mike Martin.

36 year career, 28 regionals. I'm actually surprised they had the guts to fire him in a year he made the postseason.
