Nelson Cruz currently has 39 as of September 2nd.

A decade ago, 50 bombs at this time of year would have been no big deal.

I'll say that it is possible, but not likely any time soon.

It will be harder not because of people being dirty or clean, but situational pitching has taken out the long ball in later innings, which causes the big power guys not to get as many chances.

That is my opinion, I am sure there are stats to argue for and against my opinion somewhere. I am lazy and will not look them up.

If Stanton could stay healthy, I think he's your best shot. Had 27 in 74 games, multiply that by two and you're at 54. Also, if Stanton was on another team that didn't have a wasteland of an outfield he could have even more, although most of his aren't that close

If Stanton can play a full season, then yes.

Marlins may be moving their fences in. So he has a better chance if that happens.

No...but I think the reason is that we see a short season by about 30 games in the next 5 years. I think the playoffs will start in early-August in the near future (~5 years).

Never would be too strong, anything is possible. But there have only been 8 60+ HR seasons, and 6 of those were from 3 players who are all known or heavily suspected of using steroids.

If Stanton can stay healthy/get some protection in the lineup, yes I think it is possible.

Also could see Chris Davis flirting with it if he got traded to or signed with Boston.

Who said that? there were 18 50+ HR seasons from 1920 to 1977. From 1990 to 2001 there were 17. Or better yet, there were 16 from 1995 to 2001.
