If they use that two platoon team they are using, and they develop serious cohesion between the groups that will be crazy.
They can press and play man the entire game and bring SERIOUS pressure.
Cal would earn it if he did that.
And he also would be able to showcase everyone on his damn roster. Thus allowing him to reload with even more talent every year.
Scary.

I would say so. That would be what their number 1 ranking suggest.
I see some internal chemistry issues coming about as the season progresses. That may or may not become an issue and cause them to drop a game in March. They are certainly the most talented team in the nation and probably the only chance they have to be stopped is to stop themselves.

And we'd still hear that managing a roster isn't coaching. That he just rolls the balls out and the talent does it themselves.
And I think they drop at least two. They looked like shite against Buffalo before they played Kansas. I could definitely see them losing to someone they shouldn't. Or taking a loss early in the season in the OOC which is fairly tough.
All I know is if their offense ever catches up to their defense they're going to be beyond filthy. That was probably the most impressive part of last night.

Only 4 losses on the entire year.
1 to UF in Gainesville
1 to UF in Lexington
1 to UF in Atlanta

Calipari is an above average coach, with all world recruiting ability. Combine his recruiting ability with the fact that he's at a school that basically recruits for itself and you end up with 2 teams of future NBA talent. He's certainly not a bad coach but I don't think he's the best there is. Kentucky is the best possible place for him.

Keep dreaming jorts boy. UF is severely over rated.

I saw 10+ bad motherfrickers on that court last night. They may go undefeated all year. (exaggeration of course, but they will dominate imho fwiw)

With who? And I only ask because this is probably the most selfless team I've seen Cal coach to this point. They share the ball sometimes almost too much. They're always up off the bench rooting on their teammates. They spend a lot of time together off the court as a group. The only spot I thought there could really be an issue was with Ulis/Harrison and apparently Harrison has taken on the "coach from the bench" approach and helping Ulis out quite a bit.
I may be biased, but I really just don't see it with this particular group.

I absolutely cant stand Calipari and Kentucky, but this team is undeniably freakishly talented. I think that when all is said and done, this could be an undefeated national champion. They have so much talent....height, speed and athleticism its unreal. They would be the tallest team in the NBA right now. They are without question the favorites to win it. Worst case scenario they lose 2 games tops. Kentucky is ridiculously talented. They teased the 5th ranked Jayhawks on a nuetral site with a 32 point win. YIKES!!

I can agree with that. There's just always the criticism that he doesn't have to do any coaching with these squads because of the talent. I know he's not the best X's and O's guy. But he is pretty good at coaching young kids defense in a short amount of time and getting guys to buy in despite the ego. IMO that's all apart of coaching.
If talent did it all by themselves, Ben Howland would still have a job.

The reason why they SHOULD go undefeated: Defense.
They brought it all night long.
And it's hard for your defense to go cold like shooting can.

I was flipping back and forth between that game and the end of Ohio St/Marquette and i couldnt help but think that Kentucky would beat Ohio St by the same, if not bigger margin. Kentucky is in a class by themselves this year.

i think they'll go undefeated, as well ... bringing back so many 5* to go with the new 5* makes them a ridiculous team ... no one will beat them ...

It's not unsportsmanlike if it's Kansas.

And for the sake of comparison, there's only been 7 teams in college basketball go undefeated since 1950 and win the NCAA Title (you have a handful, a UK team included, that went undefeated and wasn't eligible for post-season play).
That's 7 in about 65 years of college basketball.
Arguably UK's best team to take the court netted two losses in '96. And they were pretty deep at the time. Now granted their two losses were to eventual Final Four teams, but this year's squad also plays a pretty stout OOC slate that could feature a similar situation.
The odds are definitely against them, but as long as those losses happen during the regular season I'm perfectly ok with that.
