Why would Tech go to the Independence? Uh, they won't because they are afraid. Tech is scared to play ULM. I'm just glad they are showing themselves for the sissy arse bitches that they actually are. Detroit is great this time of year.
question for the Wizard of Smart...if Tech is "extremely overrated" like y'all always say...how would a ULM win over Tech benefit y'all's program? If ULM is indeed "America's Team" don't you think it would better serve your recruiting to play a team outside the state in the IBOWL?

ULM should be thanking Tech for turning down the I Bowl. It's a great game and very close for ULM fans. The alternative would have probably been Detroit.

So where do Tech fans see Tech playing?

How many fans will tech bring to a bowl game?
5,000?
5,000?

What kind of reward is going to a place you have already played this season against a team ten miles down the road.
Is this a serious fricking question? The team might not get to travel somewhere cool, but a Tech vs ULM I Bowl would have more fans, better atmosphere, and for a lack of better term, tons of local hype. It would great.
And it would give Tech the chance to shut ULM up.
I honestly do not understand how any Tech fan would be against them playing in the I Bowl.

It sounds like it is down to the Liberty Bowl or the Heart of Dallas bowl. I think most prefer the HOD Bowl.

Tech is obviously afraid to play ULM! They have avoided them for years!
I love a Tech-NLU threadjack...........
Pat Collins, snubbed by Tech in the late 1970s, ran over the Bulldogs with the NLU pain train during the '80s. (from a Tech message board)
Next, let's enjoy some lengthy 2009 drama on the MSB.
It's not Alabama-Auburn, Texas-Texas A&M, Michigan-Ohio State or Clemson-South Carolina, but it's still a powerful rivalry -- even if Tech and ULM don't play.

Probably 5,000 to Memphis. Probably 15,000 or more to Dallas.

I've never even heard of the Heart of Dallas Bowl
Posted on 12/2/12 at 9:53 am to Ford Frenzy
It used to be the Ticket City Bowl

So do you think the Tech players would rather play in a half empty stadium, or a sold out I Bowl with a great atmosphere?

Who do you think you are WM rebel high? No way tech brings near that

My best guess at understanding this.........Tech vs. ULM in a bowl would legitimize ULM and its (pick an adjective, Tech fans) program. Bottom line: ULM never should be seen on the same stage as Tech.
Unless Tech finds another home (Big 12? ACC? ), in 2014 they'll be in the same league (Conference USA) as four former Sun Belt schools (Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Middle Tennessee and North Texas). Gee, even recent football startups Charlotte and Old Dominion (both arriving at CUSA in 2015) were Sun Belt members long ago.
But yes, Tech-ULM in the I-Bowl would be a fascinating matchup on many levels...........and be sure to bet the over. Too bad we won't see them face off this year.

i'm no shite bowl expert, but the point of a bowl for a program is to go to the most prestigious bowl possible
i don't follow shite conferences, but it seems that tech finds the other options more prestigious than the indy bowl
tech is trying to become a bigger regional power in a much better conference. stuff like this matters. bowing down to play a ULM could affect their image in the region/conference
i don't see the selling point for tech (1) staying in LA (outside of the Sugar, l-o-l) and (2) playing a LA team

Tech players want HOD Bowl or Liberty Bowl. They just played A&M in Shreveport about a month ago.
