I have a few questions regarding LeBron last night. None of it has to do with his toughness or inability to play through cramps. Cramps are debilitating and an athlete cannot play through them. However here are the questions I have:

Why did LeBron, with his history of cramping, come out in the second half with leg tights on? These are made to increase the temperature of the legs. With a 90* temperature, keeping your legs warm should not be an issue.

Why, with 7:30 left on the clock, was LeBron not brought into the locker room to begin an IV? Players receive IV's at halftime all the time and the real time of the last 7:30 of a playoff game can easily last longer than halftime.

Finally, I agree with TigerinATL that the appearance of lack of treatment on the sideline is playing a big part in some of the backlash. It just didn't seem like a big effort was being made to get him back in the game. Obviously, Spoelstra made the decision that it was Game 1 and there was no reason to rush him back and a cautious approach was taken. There is only a very small chance that an IV or continuous massage/stretching could have gotten him ready for the last 2 minutes, but if people would have seen the effort then the backlash would not be as great.

Wasn't anything that could be done. For him to have gone to the locker room and had an iv treatment actually take hold and relieve the cramps once he was back in the game would have been a 30 minute process.

my favorite was the commentators talking about how you have to learn to play through cramps

It's not a troll post. Lebron has logged top 5 minutes in the league. There's a reason his legs are locking up on him.

Didn't hear that. Wow though. Must have been a long time since either of them had a cramp.

they didn't specifically say "cramp" but once it became clear that lebron had cramps, they kept up with the "play through it" meme

That's ridiculous. Any man who can play through a leg cramp is not one to frick with. because it's nearly impossible.

I had 2 observations about the cramping episode. The massage or stretching part of it is one thing, I just found it odd that he wasn't even drinking fluids the majority of the time they showed him on the bench.

The other thing was his face looked really swollen, not sure if this is a side effect of being dehydrated or if anyone else noticed this.

Because he wasn't really cramping, it was just part of the script

I know.

Sure, he didn't need to be carried, but you can't play through cramps. Its not the flu, its not a sore joint, its not back pain, etc.

Cramps literally lock your muscle and they can't be used. Doesn't matter how hard he wanted to come back in the game, which he did, its just a physical impossibility with bad leg cramps. He couldn't bend his leg.

but people will give Lebron a pass for going out with cramps, when in all reality the Heat just don't have enough depth and ES doesn't belong coaching that team.
