Why was Tom Herman unable to get Texas back on track?

I wanted him at LSU back in 2016 at the time. With that said as well as he did at Univ of Houston and with Texas' facilities, recruiting base and $$ he'd have them in the top 5.

What was the main obstacle?

boosters being impatient. i mean he didnt do awful with them. it's going to take either a homerun hire or people being patient to get it back where it was.

if Texas keeps openly shopping for head caoaches while one is still on staff and can't keep a lid on things, they'll never be back on track.

On the surface his biggest problem was that he couldn't recruit at the level needed to sustain an elite program. Just look at this past recruiting cycle. Most of the elite players from the state of Texas went to Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Alabama.

Ohio State, Alabama, and Oklahoma are still poaching their best talent.

Single biggest obstacle is obviously the school and boosters not getting out of their own way, which has been a problem for the better part of 40 years.

Mack is an exception, not the rule, as UT sucked arse for most of the 80s and 90s until he was hired.

How do they stop this from happening?

Maybe....just maybe....Texas is a historically overrated program and being “back on track” is exactly what Herman did.

I don't think he did bad. He deserved another year. This is a massive risk UT is taking.

Texas' issues require a coach better than Tom Herman to overcome if they want to be an elite program again. They aren't in the SEC. They aren't tOSU.

If you look macro, Herman did better than 3 of their last 4 coaches did. Texas is just overrated as a program and job.

People.like you say this and mean what?
What did rich boosters do to stop him from practicing and winning?
Not knocking you personally, but they don't practice, they don't call plays, they don't execute.
If someone in any way wasn't allowing Herman to do his job, he would come out and say it
