My guess is the superfans get access the rest of us don't. But, I doubt the league pays full boat for a dozen fans of each team to go. Maybe the teams help out, IDK.

I went earlier today. It was a blast. Tons of things to do. There was NFL experience things where you can play games and take pictures with things like jerseys and Super Bowl rings. There was players signing autographs. Merchant shops selling gear of all of the teams. There were food trucks and live music. We didn’t even watch one draft pick happen, we were just doing all of the activities going on.

Probably the main reason they wanted out of Radio City and the Jet fans booing picks.

I would think it was because the draft got too big for a small building…

This. There are also contests and corporate sponsorships.

I’m confused, is there nothing to do in Detroit?

I feel like all big cities have “stuff to do” but I’ve never been there.

Comparatively, are you in a place that has a bunch to do?

Genuinely curious!

There is a ton to do in Detroit and the surrounding suburban area. It’s just like every other major metro area that has around almost 5 million people. There are bars, restaurants, shops, museums, etc.

Maybe they set up a huge bar crawl with the draft in the middle or every nearby bar was running draft day specials with live music or something.

Otherwise idk

Grown men decked out in makeup and team gear at the draft is fricking cringe.

It’s bad enough people do that for a game, but for the draft when after the first round they usually have no idea who the player drafted- just awful.

My aunt and uncle are retired season ticket holders to the Texans and have been for like 15 years or so. They're semi-friendly with Cal McNair, have sat in his personal box a few times for games. They got an offer (not directly from ownership) for free tickets to the draft, and would be given free transport to and from the hotel and also an assortment of free merchandise (to show off new merch on TV if they got shown). They'd have to pay for airfare and hotel but everything else was to be taken care of. They seemed like they'd have done it if it were anywhere but Detroit.

If it was on my hometown, I’d go check it out.

There’s probably other stuff to do out there

Most of those “fans” are paid actors. Do you really think that there are “fans” of every team that just happen to show up in costume every year? No it’s a totally fake production.

You’re dumb.

Yes this def happens. Lots of people out there whose lives and self worth revolves around being seen and recognized as a fan of their specific team.
