I bet it's because minor league baseball has overshadowed it historically.

College Baseball's talent pool is closer to Juco level than the MLB level. Most college players are out of the minor league within their first 2 years. College basketball is probably the closest to the pros because of how bad college football's QBs are.

cant say the same for college baseball

LSU's last CWS title team had 5 future MLB players on it, 3 first round draft picks, and last years MLB batting champion. Florida's team this year has several pitchers that will likely pitch in the majors. The top rounds of the draft have more and more college players selected every year. The game has improved immensely the past 10 years.

I can watch a week's worth of college basketball and identify MAYBE 3 stars. Hell, no I can't. I can't even identify 3 stars in the first 10 picks of this draft.

I can watch a week's schedule of college football games and find 10 guys who I KNOW will be stars. And plenty who have a chance to become stars/guys who become damn near it.

there is a lot of MLB talent in the college game. i just personally feel like it doesnt translate as well as it does in both basketball and football. but thats just a personal opinion

Plus all the main players from college still have to make it through the minors before getting to the majors. People still have to wait around awhile before they finally see the player on a MLB team.

The NBA draft has 2 rounds. A good number are players from foreign countries. VERY few college basketball players ever plan in the NBA. Most hack around in random leagues around the world before quitting, just like baseball players. Same for the NFL, they just have bigger rosters, and no minor leagues, but staying power is worse than baseball for the vast majority of players.

the NFL as a whole hasn't been that entertaining recently... plus it feels too corporate to begin with

I remember college basketball in the 80's and you were watching - just NBA stars - and you had them for 3-4 years but they were in college...and not the NBA...and the game was like a mini-NBA...you had Ewing for 4 years...you could follow a team and know the players were going to be mostly the same year after year.

That will never happen again.

When does an NFL RB dominate? Every damn season. WTF are you talking about?
12 NFL RBs went over 1000 yards last year in a 32 team league.

Of the top 32 teams in the NCAA last year(or most viewed 32 teams, whatever), how many RBs do you thing went over 1000 yards?

You're proving my point. 70 CFB RBs broke 1000 yards rushing. It means less when a CFB RB dominates. He's doing it against weak links that won't sniff an NFL field.

But what question did you ask? When does it happen? Every. Damn. Season.

ETA: Keep trying. Maybe one day you'll convince me that CFB is as entertaining as the NFL.

Could easily be true.

Until the NFL can field 32...frick it, 20 good QBs...I don't want to hear how shitty college QBs are.

Oh and more people watch the Little League World Series than the College World Series...fact.

And almost all the audience has no rooting interest in most teams...Midwest, West, East...they only root at the end.

The deal is...there is no global story about college baseball - it has no non-alum interest whatsoever.

It's water polo.

Die-hard fans of a school or alums are the only ones who care because it has no outside appeal as a sporting entertainment event.

Most people would rather watch Beach volleyball NCAA female finals.

A better way to look at it is 1 player in the entire league averaged 100 ypg last year and barely.

Again...which is harder to pick up on during the flow of a game.

As soon as you realize that my opinion is always the best one and yours is always the worst....I'll have you convinced

i will say this... it is hard as hell to watch a BabyCakes game after you've been to the Box a few times and watched most of the other games on TV... the energy just isn't there, and it doesn't help that minor league teams are affiliated with a major league team you may or may not care about.
