If we’re going for global cities, I’d lean more towards like London

Montreal h2h could not compete with London. They've never hosted Olypics and I think London has hosted at least 4. A World Cup final, Euro finals national and professional alike and much more.

London has a bunch of premier league teams too and an nfl presence and then like. Are we considering suburbs?

Sure and it's kind of a silly claim to make anyway but London has probably hosted more big international sporting events than any other city

I’m sure it’s a pandering and/or self-assigned title, but it’s an active city, and there’s a lot sporting infrastructure pretty close to the city center - opposite the Botanic Gardens (which has a cool little public running track around it, the Tan). In the grand scheme of things, I’m sure there are multiple cities with a better claim to the title, but it’s a cool city from a sports perspective.
