Because it's easier to throw to a tall WR?

Big receivers cover up the deficiencies of inaccurate QBs
Gotta be accurate to throw to small receivers

The NFL has changed - quick twitch and speed are paramount now.

The "big corner" craze is dead too as a result. You won't see many Sean Smith or Brandon Browner type CBs in the near future.

A lot of the tall guys simply aren't as shifty

A taller person is going to naturally have a bigger range, i.e. a bigger area where the QB can throw it and know the receiver can get to it.

i'm actually offended that you just put Antonio Brown in the same category as Edelman...

but taller receivers do have an advantage, look at Megatron/Mike Evans/Julio/Larry Fitzgerald and the way they use their size to overpower DBs to make plays that would otherwise be covered

Julio is a just a freak. period

i dunno if there has ever been one of those "Draft competitions" where both guys ended up being super studs like the great Julio v. AJ Green debate

Pass catching in the NFL is not a one size fits all model. You have everything from big body TE like Gronk/Kelce, quick smaller guys in the slot, and big receivers who can go up and get it.

At the very least, if teams don't have a smaller, shifty guy in the slot they are missing out

That Julio catch will be forgotten because the Falcons lost.

But holy shite.

There are not many people on Planet Earth that make that catch, if any others.

The Julio catch will be forgotten because of the immaculate gritception, not because they lost, not exclusively atleast

Just like the Lockette circus catch two years ago that looked like was going to be Helmet Catch 2.0

That was legit one of the best pass/catch combos I've ever seen.
