Well that's just the bonus.

But the deal is TV sports has always revolved around the West Coast.

Meaning they won't start important championships or sporting events that won't get the West Coast viewer home after 6pm.

They give WC viewers an entire hour to get settled at home. And east coast sleepyheads have been pissed about it for 40 years.

It's California...no way around it. It's TV dollars and California controls the market...by size, sports teams, revenue and fandom with transplants from everywhere.

There is no way they would cut out California. The schedule for California. That's just good business.

And for the East Coast...they control baseball. That's it. And even in the sport they so-called control - they have to stay up to 1am...

And even a Cleveland NBA final will start at 9:30pm Est. time.

TV people don't give a crap about you have to stay up late.

They give a crap about Californians not tuning in because they got home late from work and who cares now? It's too big to fail for TV...the California market.

It always starts that late. NBA Finals is just as bad. Must really suck to live in Eastern Time Zone.

I was on travel to Lexington a few years ago. Tried to watch a NBA playoff game. Game didn't start until 10:30. frick that. Glad I didn't get that job. Back to Central Time Zone for me. I have no interest living in that shitty time zone.

The title game has always been at 9:20pm Eastern time. Monday night football used to start at 9:00pm Eastern time and that was during it's glory days of the 70s and 80s.

The truth is that people didn't have to get up as early 30 and 40 years ago. Businesses and offices would routinely not open until 9:00am. Grocery stores and places like Sears wouldn't open until 10am. Stores would also close earlier. Morning tv wouldn't start until 6:00am at the earliest. Now you have morning tv news at 4:30 or 5:00am. Your morning drive time on the radio didn't start until 6:00am.

You conservatives can thank the endless drive for accumulation of capital for our 24/7 economy.

Lets put it this way for retards...who don't get it.

If Hawaii had 40 million people, Hollywood, all of TV programming, the largest GDP in the nation (by far) and 3 NFL franchises, 3 MLB franchises and 3 NBA franchises and 3 NHL franchises...and 50 electoral votes.

Hawaii's time would control the dial. That's just economics boys.

That's one State sort of controlling the rest in what we do and when we do it as a country. And its been this way forever.

Why is everyone complaining about it now? That's like complaining about obvious economics.

The Oscars don't start at 6pm eastern time...they start at 8:30pm.

Events run on PST time - they have to...too much money and too many people.

Everything important to show has to show at 9pm or later, EST.

The 4 metros of NYC, Philly, DC, and Boston have a larger population than the entire state of California.

They have 5 NFL franchises, 5 MLB franchises, 5, NFL franchises, and 5 NHL franchises.

Fox and Fox News is based out of NYC. CNN is based out of Atlanta. ESPN is based out Connecticut. CBS is based out of NYC. NBC is based out of NYC.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the nonsense you are spewing.

It is simply a way to maximize viewership across all 4 time zones. Nothing more. Nothing less.

I completely agree. Last year I moved (back) to the eastern time zone and it sucks. Central time is so much better for sports viewing.

It just varies. While the late games suck, having the title game come on at 6:20 PM when most professionals haven't even left work would also suck. Similar to having every Braves game come on while you're still at work in Birmingham/wherever, or many events at 4/5pm on weeknights on the west coast.

The college football national championship kicked off at 8:15. Football games last longer than basketball games. Same thing.
