Morton did kick from 1982-2007.25 years.
Other Kickers
Gary Anderson 23 years
John Carney 23 years
Jason Hanson 21 Years

That's a long time to lower your percentage.

Over the course of his first 10 years in the league, he connected on 77.2% of his field goal kicks.

That sucks now

Yeah but look how many times the Saints used him.
I'd be curious to know his amount of attempts in that 10 year period vs kickers who have been in the league for 10 years now.
Hell he was the scoring Off for a good portion of his time with the Saints. More often than not they would drive down and try a 42-50 field goal if things didn't work out.

Morton's most accurate year was 2007. His last year. And it was still below 90%

Gary Anderson hit 100% and 96% at age 39 and 41 which helped RAISE his career average to 80%.

John Carney's second and third best years happened when he was 44 and 42 years old.

Jason Hanson's second best year, off .2% from his best, was 2008 at 38 years old.

Not gonna look up more than this right now, but Morton had 281 attempts thru 10 years, for reference Adam Vinatieri had 321 attempts thru 10 years, hitting 82%

He averaged 28 field goal attempts a year during those 10 years.

16 kickers last year attempted more than 28 field goals

He averaged less than 2 field goal attempts a game during those 10 years

He led the league in field goal attempts just twice in his entire NFL career. Hell, he only finished in the top 5 in attempts five times

People don't understand statistics, and will always project anecdotal evidence upon the population.
