This has always peaked my curiosity also, I've always been interested in why certain regions produce such big strong guys. The Eastern Slavs and Norse obviously have the advantage in pure strength, power, and size, but the southern blacks have a great mix of size strength, AND speed. This is purely because the Scots-Irish slaveholders mixed with strong Africans and created almost a hybrid of the two races. Most American blacks have a very big portion of white DNA, just watch those genealogy shows on PBS.

Michael Johnson, former 200 m gold medalist descended from Texas slaves actually did a documentary on something very similar to this a few years ago in Britain. He wondered why the Jamaicans were such good sprinters and he came to find out that Jamaica was the last stop on the American/Caribbean slave route. So only the biggest, strongest slaves were left to get off at Jamaica.

It's always fascinating to see why a race or group has certain physical traits over another due to region and history of that region, I'm sure the Slavs and Norsemen have reason why they are so big and strong, but I haven't done really any research on it and I'm 1/4 Slavic, what a traitor to my lineage. Ha
